The Music With A Message (MWAM) youth band is a premier South Bronx youth performance group and youth performing arts program created by the Renaissance Youth Center. Featuring more than 25 talented young musicians, singers, dancers, DJs, poets, and performers ages 6–21, MWAM is one of New York City’s leading youth bands, providing NYC youth with professional stage experience, mentorship, music education, and opportunities to perform across New York City and nationwide.

Band members are selected through the Renaissance Youth Center’s after-school music programs, performing arts programs, and open youth band auditions held throughout NYC. Led by Bervin Harris — a singer-songwriter, producer, and former Capitol Records recording artist — MWAM has become one of the city’s most recognized youth entertainment groups and music programs for teens.

Each summer, the band performs 45–60 live concerts, school assemblies, festivals, sporting events, housing developments, community events, and major venue performances throughout the five boroughs and beyond. Through original music and high-energy performances, Music With A Message promotes positivity, anti-violence, leadership, health, youth empowerment, and community engagement while inspiring audiences through the power of music.
